Christopher Newport Travels to New Jersey Saturday Looking for Third Straight Win

GAME NOTES //  CNU RADIO BROADCAST // LIVE VIDEO  //  LIVE STATS

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport hasn't played a road game since the first week of the season when the Captains recorded a 9-3 victory at Washington and Lee University. After four straight home games, first year Head Coach Paul Crowley's squad will head to Union, New Jersey, to take on Kean University Saturday. Kickoff for the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game at Kean Alumni Stadium is set for 12 p.m.

The Captains split their four straight games on the home turf and are now 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC. Prior to a bye last weekend, CNU won consecutive games over Catholic University in non-conference play, 38-7, and Rowan University in the conference opener, 20-14. The Cougars of Kean came from behind last Saturday to record a 23-22 victory at Montclair State University. KU is 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC.

"Every game in the NJAC is a tough game, and this one is no exception," Crowley said. "Kean had a big win last week and they're always difficult to beat at home. We've got some momentum and we've had some time to prepare and get healthy, and I'm confident we'll compete at a high level on Saturday."

The matinee will be the eighth all-time meeting of the programs, and the Cougars hold a 5-2 edge in the series. Kean has been victorious in all four previous matchups played in New Jersey. Last year, the Cougars prevailed in overtime over the Captains, 27-20, at Kelchner Field at TowneBank Stadium.

All Christopher Newport games are broadcast live on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) with this week's pre-game show beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The game will be streamed live by Kean, and can be seen by clicking the link at the top of this story. Live stats can also be accessed by clicking the link above.
