New Jersey Athletic Conference Selects Jordin Lennon Offensive Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University's Jordin Lennon was honored on Monday by the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). Lennon, a senior running back from Yorktown, Va., was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week.

Lennon led the Captains to a 31-20 victory on Saturday at Kean University in Union, N.J., by rushing for 201 yards on 27 carries. He also scored two touchdowns for CNU, crossing the goal line in the opening half on a 16-yard scamper and later carrying the ball five yards for a score in the second half. He averaged 7.4 yards per carry for the day.

The Captains did not attempt a pass in the second half after holding a 21-14 edge at the intermission, with Lennon serving as the workhorse back. He made 11 of his totes in the first half, rushing for 102 yards, and then carried the ball 16 times in the second half for 99 more yards. For the day, the Captains out-rushed the Cougars by a 277-34 margin.

Christopher Newport is now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC, and Paul Crowley's squad has won 20 consecutive regular-season games dating back to 2024. CNU is ranked 13th in the country for the second consecutive week by D3football.com, and the Captains are ranked tenth again this week by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).

For the second straight Saturday, the Captains will travel to New Jersey this weekend for conference action. CNU will play at Montclair State University in a 12 noon kick off Saturday. The Red Hawks of MSU are 4-1 and 2-0 in the NJAC heading into Saturday's matchup.
