NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Due to heavy thunderstorms in Newport News throughout the evening, head coaches Jamie Gunderson and Jeff Bowers agreed to postpone Wednesday nights' match between Christopher Newport and Virginia Wesleyan women's soccer. No makeup date has been announced. 

The match, originally scheduled for 7:30 pm was moved up to 7:00 pm to try and avoid the inclement weather, but Mother Nature stormed in ahead of schedule, forcing the third postponement of the young season for the Captains (1-0-0). Hurrican Ida impacted the season opener versus Dickinson and Emerson College did not travel to Virginia Beach for the weekend's Marlin Invitational. 

Christopher Newport will now focus it's attention on the weekend tournament at Captains Field, which will now serve as the home opener for the 2021 season. CNU will take on 19th-ranked Centre College on Saturday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. before facing off against Pfeiffer University at 3:30 pm on Sunday afternoon.
