Alec Strause earned All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles, headlining a group of five Captains to earn Coast-To-Coast Men's Tennis All-League honors. Strause and partner
Ryan Macy earned first team All-Conference honors in doubles while senior
Scotty Hunter garnered first team plaudits for singles play.
Joining the aforementioned honors, Strause was also a second team All-Conference player in singles and was joined by senior
James Baron and rookie
Tyler Hyun among those honored. Five is the most Captains to be honored as All-Conference picks since 2016.
Strause and Macy were one of three tandems to earn first team doubles honors in 2021. Macy collects his second career pick while Strause was selected for the first time. The duo played at No. 1 doubles all season long and put together a team-best 8-4 overall record. Playing their best at the end of the season, Strause and Macy won four of their last five with the lone setback coming in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (1), to Mary Washington's top-ranked team. In that stretch, the CNU pair defeated second-ranked Thomas and James Yu from Johns Hopkins and also downed fellow first-team selectiosn Marcos Dias and Daniel Blonquist from Southern Virginia.
The lone first team singles selection in 2021 was
Scotty Hunter, who picked up his first career All-Conference designation. The starter at No. 1 all season long won five matches against the top player from opposing teams. He tied for the team lead in victories this season and won four of his first five bouts including a straight set win against nationally-ranked Washington & Lee's number one.
The three second team All-Conference picks for the Captains were Strause,
James Baron, and
Tyler Hyun. Strause was 5-5 while playing at three different levels of competition. Picked All-League at No. 3 where he earned three victories, Strause tied for the team lead in wins. Baron captured a pair of wins at No. 2, including one in conference play, to earn his first career All-Conference selection. Rounding out the honors, rookie
Tyler Hyun helped round out the Captains lineup with four wins between Nos. 4-6 during the season.
Christopher Newport finished the abbreviated season with a 6-6 overall record and 2-2 mark in conference play.
