NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Three different Captains were ranked in the first Atlantic South regional rankings posted on NCAA.com this week, as Christopher Newport men's tennis hauled in a spot at No. 7 as a team.
Scotty Hunter earned a singles ranking while
Alec Strause and
Ryan Macy paired for a spot in the doubles rankings.
The rankings were released on NCAA.com this Sunday, April 18 with the Captains pegged the No. 7 ranked team in the Atlantic South. Emory led the region with North Carolina Wesleyan, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, Mary Washington, and Southern Virginia picked ahead of CNU.
The Captains are 5-4 overall this season with a 2-2 record in conference play.
In the singles rankings, senior
Scotty Hunter picked up a spot in the poll ranked No. 8. Hunter has played exclusively at No. 1 singles this year, winning four matches. Macy and Strause were pegged No. 7 in the doubles poll. The CNU duo are 5-4 in doubles matches this spring, all played at No. 1
Christopher Newport will host Virginia Wesleyan University on Friday, April 23. Match time is set for 3:00 p.m.
