Brady Altobello Earns USILA National Team of the Week Honors for the Second Time This Season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- For the second time this season, Brady Altobello has been named to the USILA National Team of the Week after the junior star guided the Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team to a pair of victories, including a huge triumph over nationally-ranked Lynchburg on Saturday.

Previously, Altobello secured a spot on the National Team of the Week on March 9. He is the first Captain in program history to earn the honor twice in one season.

During his award-winning week, Altobello led the Captains with 11 points and six assists. He also added five total goals, including back-to-back tallies during a key stretch in the fourth quarter against the second-ranked Hornets on Saturday.

Leading Christopher Newport to a 10-9 overtime win against No. 2 Lynchburg, Altobello pieced together a masterful performance on the offensive side of the ball. Finishing with six points, including four goals, the third-year star was a consistent threat throughout the contest.

In the first quarter against the Hornets, Altobello assisted on a last-minute goal that pulled the hosts within one. In the second stanza, after Christopher Newport gained its first lead of the game, he extended the advantage to 5-3 with a dagger before halftime.

Continuing the back-and-forth slugfest, Altobello assisted on a go-ahead strike early in the third period before giving the squad a two-goal edge after beating a one-on-one situation with a bullet over the shoulder of his defender. Then, in the fourth quarter, he broke another deadlock with a man-up missile before changing elevation and adding the squad's ninth tally with a low screamer into the corner of the cage.

Incredibly, of the five shots he put on target against Lynchburg, four found the back of the net.

In addition to his efforts against Lynchburg, Altobello also orchestrated a five-point showcase earlier in the week at Randolph-Macon. Guiding Christopher Newport to a 24-8 victory on Wednesday, he registered a first-quarter goal while also establishing a new career-high with four assists.

So far this season, the Potomac, Maryland native ranks third in the conference with 28 points and 20 goals. His eight assists also place him fourth among league competitors.

Altobello and the rest of his teammates will return to action on Friday when Christopher Newport hits the road for a rematch at Lynchburg beginning at 7 p.m.
