CHESTERTOWN, Md. --
Riding a three-game winning streak, the 11th-ranked Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will look to continue its roll on Saturday at 3 p.m. when the Captains travel to Washington (Md.) for a non-conference test at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.

Entering the contest, Christopher Newport currently stands at 3-0 on the season, including 2-0 on the road. Meanwhile, Washington (Md.) is 1-0 after defeating Randolph-Macon in its home opener last Saturday.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, no spectators will be permitted to attend Saturday's game. However, Washington (Md.) will provide live stats and a video stream of the action at WashingtonCollegeSports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.

Christopher Newport is coming off a pair of lopsided victories last week as the squad upended Southern Virginia, 16-6, before topping Roanoke, 17-6. Incredibly, in their three games this season, the Captains have trailed for exactly 15 seconds and have held a lead at the end of all 12 quarters in which they have played.

Making those achievements even more impressive, all three programs that the Captains have defeated are currently receiving votes in the most recent USILA National Coaches Poll.

On an individual level, Zac Hanway and Brady Altobello are reigning Coast-to-Coast Conference Players of the Week and earned a spot on the USILA National Team of the Week for their recent efforts. Hanway currently leads the league with a .742 save percentage and a 4.63 goals-against-average, while Altobello is third with 11 goals.

In addition to the decorated Captains, Drew Miller is tied for the league-lead with six assists, while he, Altobello, Alex Brendes, and Dylan Rice all rank among the conference's top-10 in points this season. Zack Sands also boasts a conference-best .667 faceoff percentage.

Overall, Christopher Newport leads the league in goals-per-game (16.33) and goals-against-average (7.33).

On the other side of the field, Washington (Md.) kicked off its season last Saturday with a 10-8 triumph over Randolph-Macon. Joe Maimone and Ewan Temple both had four points during the victory, while Chris Del Rosario added 14 saves to earn the win. Kyle Gittelman also collected seven ground balls for the victors.

Saturday's match-up will mark the third meeting between the two programs. Currently, Christopher Newport holds a 2-0 edge in the series, including a 15-6 win last year in Maryland. During that contest, Brendes and Thomas Mark both had three goals apiece, while Max Wayne had three takeaways and two ground balls.

After this weekend, the Captains will return to action on Wednesday when the squad travels to Ashland for a 7 p.m. tilt at Randolph-Macon.
