No. 4 Christopher Newport Hosts Salisbury for Wednesday Night Matchup at Captains Field, 7:00 pm

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Playing the Sea Gulls for the second time in the last three games, the undefeated and 4th-ranked Christopher Newport women's soccer team will entertain Salisbury University (5-7-2) at 7:00 pm on Wednesday night.

The Captains will put a perfect 11-0-0 record on the line against the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference rival exactly two weeks after traveling to Salisbury and winning, 3-0. With the win, CNU improved to 15-6-3 all-time against the Sea Gulls including a 7-1-2 record in the last ten matchups.

For fans unable to attend the game live at Captains Field, a video webcast and live stats will be available at CNUsports.com.

In Tuesday's release of the Week 6 poll by the United Soccer Coaches, Christopher Newport held pat at No. 4 nationally. The D3soccer.com Top 25 dropped the Captains one spot to No. 3 this week despite a 3-0 win at Mary Washington in the team's lone outing.

The highly-ranked program is enjoying one of it's finest seasons so far, outscoring opponents 33-3 while averaging 3.0 goals per game. The Captains rank seven nationally in goals-against average (0.272) while ranking 35th in scoring offense. CNU remains one of only four undefeated teams left in Division III and one of only six teams in all of the NCAA (I, II, and III).

Senior Riley Cook scored her 10th goal of the season in CNU's last game, becoming the first player in program history to register at least 10 goals in each of her four seasons as a Captain. She currently ranks fifth nationally in total shots and is the league leader in goals and points scored. In goal, Haley Eiser continues to add to her record-breaking career with her 25th career shutout while improving to 10-0-0 this season.

Salisbury is coming off a 1-0 win against Hood as the Sea Gulls improved to 5-7-2 overall. Junior Autumn Dougherty leads the offense with 12 points on five goals and two assists while rookie Zakiyyah McMillan has added seven points on three goals and one helper.

Following the mid-week matchup against the familiar foe, Christopher Newport will travel to Greensboro, N.C. to take on Piedmont College in a neutral site bout on Sunday, October 24. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 pm on Sunday with live stats available at CNUsports.com.
