Andy Mason earned wins in both singles and doubles play for the men's tennis team on Thursday, but the Captains suffered a 7-2 setback at No. 23 Caltech.
Mason paired with
Ryan Macy in the No. 2 doubles spot for an 8-4 win over Patryk Kozlowski and John Kim. The CNU duo improved to 2-1 at No. 2 this season and 5-4 overall.
In singles play, Mason earned the only team point for the Captains with a 6-4, 7-5 win at the No. 4 position. He took on Matthew Gonzalgo and improved to 4-1 this season in No. 4 matches.
Mason Kolls had a good showing at No. 6, sliding up to play Miha Valencic. Kolls fell in a 6-4, 6-4 match up but picked up eight game victories in his first dual appearance of the season.
Christopher Newport will return to action on Friday, March 6. The Captains will take on No. 25 Redlands at 1:00 pm.
