SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- A big test awaits the fourth-ranked Christopher Newport women's soccer team as the Captains travel to Texas this weekend for a pair of tough non-conference matchups. Christopher Newport (5-0-1) will put it's unbeaten record on the line against Mary Hardin-Baylor (2-3-0) on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. before facing host and 23rd-ranked Trinity University (4-1-0) on Sunday at Noon.
Both game times listed above are local start times. The matchup against the Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. Eastern and the Captains will take on the host Tigers at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. Live stats and a live video webcast will be available for both games played on the Trinity University campus.
This will be the first matchup between Christopher Newport and Mary Hardin-Baylor. It is the third time the Captains will have faced Trinity, splitting the first two with one win apiece. The first time the two teams played, Trinity won a 1-0 match at home in 2005 before the Captains secured a 1-0 double overtime win in 2017 at the Virginia Wesleyan tournament on a neutral field.

Emily Talotta has added 8 points on 3 goals and 2 assists while rookie
Sarah Rhiel has chipped in a team-high three helpers to go with two goals for 7 points this season.
Christopher Newport is coming off an 11-goal outburst against Methodist University last Saturday, ranking as the second most goals in program history. Four Captains scored two goals in the game.
Mary Hardin-Baylor opened the season with a 2-3 record overall, coming off a 2-1 victory at home against Our Lady of the Lake University. Chelsea Graham leads the offense with two goals and two assists for six total points. Emmy McMaude has started all five games in goal and has made 22 saves.
Trinity was ranked 11th in the nation last week before suffering a 1-0 loss to Puget Sound. The Tigers are still ranked in the top-25 with a 4-1-0 overall record and have outscored opponents 12-2 so far this season. Trinity is coming off a 3-0 win at Willamette on Sunday and will play Texas Lutheran on Friday night. The talented offense is balanced as well, led by rookie Kristen Coniglione and sophomore Madison Horner with 5 points apiece.
Following the trip to Texas, Christopher Newport will return home to take on 18th ranked Lynchburg on Wednesday, September 25 at home. Kickoff against the Hornets is set for 7:00 pm.
