FROSTBURG, Md. -- The 24th-ranked Christopher Newport women's tennis team captured a 9-0 shutout victory at Frostburg State on Saturday afternoon behind a dominating effort in both singles and doubles action. 
With the win, the Captains improve to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in Capital Athletic Conference action while the Bobcats are now 5-5, 1-3. 
CNU raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles. 
Johanna Ranta-aho paired with 
Olivia Reed for an 8-1 win on the top line, defeating Kate Paylow and Jenna Lipinski of Frostburg State. At No. 2 doubles, 
Colette Gilbert and 
Amanda Yermal picked up an 8-2 victory against Sammi Turner and Shea Przywieczerski. Then, rounding out the doubles sweep, 
Maygan Brewer and 
Sydney Sawyer combined for an 8-1 win over Cherise Jenkins and Sophia Staggers. 
In singles play, Ranta-aho and Brewer would add their second wins of the day at one and six, respectively, as both captured perfect 6-0, 6-0 wins. Ranta-aho dropped Lipinski at No. 1 and Brewer downed Satia Harper at No. 6. 
In total, CNU dropped just two games in all of singles play, outscoring the Bobcats 72-2 in game victories. 
Kara Ferner won at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1); 
Reagan Delp beat Przywieczerski at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0); 
Alison Burgess shut out her foe at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0); and 
Ana Clara Borga cruised by Sophia Staggers at No. 5 (6-0, 6-1). 
With the six singles victories, CNU is now 50-34 in duals this season for a winning percentage of .595. Delp extended her team-high win streak to six with the win, while Ranta-aho picked up her 53rd career singles win.
