NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The 35th-ranked Christopher Newport men's tennis team improved to 9-6 overall and 4-1 in league action on Saturday with a 9-0 shutout at Frostburg State in Capital Athletic Conference play.
The Captains dropped just two games in doubles and only 10 combined in the six singles matches in a dominating victory against the Bobcats. Frostburg State fell to 4-4 overall with the loss. 
In tandem play, 
James Baron paired with 
Dominic Lacombe on the top line for an 8-0 win over Shasta Braithwaite and Nate Farlow. CNU captured 8-1 wins at the other two doubles bouts, with 
Mason Kolls and 
Paul Baron earning the win at No. 2 and 
Mitch Brody teaming with 
Walter Buck for the win at No. 3. 
With a 3-0 lead heading into singles, the Captains cruised to the conference win. Kolls, 
James Baron, and Brody all earned 6-0, 6-0 wins on lines two through four, in order. Moving up to play on the top line after Lacombe scratched was junior 
Andy Mason, who downed Braithwaite by a final score of 6-2, 6-3. 
Rounding out the victory for CNU were Buck and 
Paul Baron at five and six. Buck defeated Geoffrey Goldring (6-2, 6-2) and Baron downed Toheeb Aroworowon (6-0, 6-1) to complete the shutout. 
CNU will turn to Division I George Mason on Sunday for their next action, with the match set to begin at 2:30 pm in Northern Virginia.Â
