ORANGE, Calif. -- The nationally-ranked CNU men's tennis program pulled away for a 6-3 win at Chapman University (0-2) on Thursday afternoon, running their overall season record to 3-4. Rookie
Ryan Macy and senior
Nicholas Ruzicka each won in both singles and doubles during the match.
CNU took a 2-1 lead after doubles with wins at No. 1 and 2. Macy and
Andy Mason captured an 8-4 win over Len Kamemoto and Matthew Mead on the top line while Ruzicka and
William Trang defeated Jacob Lee and Brock DeHaven at No. 2, 8-3.
The final doubles match went to the home team, 8-3, as Adrien Rooney and Luke Bennett defeated
James Baron and
Bryce Coleman.
In singles play, the Captains won four of six matches to pull away for the team win. CNU picked up straight set victories at 3, 5, and 6 with Macy, Ruzicka, and rookie
Mason Kolls earning those wins, respectively. Junior
Dominic Lacombe also won at No. 1 singles, defeating Jacob Lee (6-2, 4-6, 6-4).
Macy defeated Mead, 6-2, 6-2, and Ruzicka took down Troy Manditch, 6-3, 6-2, to sweep both of their matches on the day.
CNU will conclude their California road trip on Friday at the University of Redlands.
