Live Stream

SAN JUAN, P.R. --
The Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will look to continue its two-game roll on Tuesday when the Captains take on Roanoke in a neutral-site tilt beginning at 9 a.m. in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

For those fans unable to make the trip, a live stream of the action can be found on the Puerto Rico Classico's Facebook page, which can be accessed here: Puerto Rico Classico Facebook.

Entering the contest, CNU has won its last two outings and sits at 2-3 on the season. Roanoke is 3-0 with all three victories coming at home.

Showcasing a potent attack, the Captains have scored at least 17 goals in each of their last two outings and notched 14 or more in four of their five games this year. Headlining the attack, Sarah Culver ranks fourth in the nation with 22 goals. That marks the most by a Captain in the first five games of a season since Ashton Marshall opened the 2013 campaign with 24 strikes.

Culver was especially effective on Saturday when she matched her career-high with seven goals against Shenandoah. That also equaled the fourth-highest single-game total in program history. Zoe Dyer also found the back of the net four times against the Hornets, while Katie Orrison contributed a hat-trick.

Overall, Culver, Sam Wettengel, and Cat Leighty have scored at least one point in all five games this year, while Gracie Sanders has tallied one in the last four contests. Through five games, 11 different Captains have recorded at least two goals this season.

On the other side of the field, Roanoke features an equally impressive offensive attack. The Maroons have scored at least 18 goals in all three of their games this season, including a 25-0 triumph against Ferrum in their last outing. On an individual level, Jenn Schwechheimer ranks second in the NCAA with 38 total points, including 24 assists. Meanwhile, on the defensive side, Carly Schoudel has a .438 save percentage and a 4.63 goals-against-average.

In 14 previous meetings between the two programs, both squads have registered seven wins. Christopher Newport has won the last three battles, including an 18-5 triumph in 2017.
