WASHINGTON, D.C. --
The 15th-ranked Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will hit the road on Saturday when the Captains travel to Catholic for a 1 p.m. showdown at Cardinal Stadium.

Entering the weekend, CNU stands at 5-2 on the season, including 2-2 away from Newport News. Meanwhile, Catholic has a 4-4 record and a 1-2 mark at home.

For those fans unable to attend the game, Catholic will provide live stats and a video stream of the action. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the CNU schedule page.

Christopher Newport is coming off of the longest game in program history on Wednesday. Facing Washington (Md.), the Captains eventually captured an 11-10 triumph in triple overtime. Dylan Rice scored the clincher with just three seconds remaining in the third overtime period off a feed from Jordan Lee to lock up the win.

Rice finished the game with three goals, while Lucas Barry also contributed a hat-trick to go along with two assists. The defense was equally impressive as the Captains forced 23 turnovers, including six by Max Wayne. Phoenix Hines also caused four miscues and scooped up five ground balls, while Scott McAneney notched 14 saves, including three during the overtime periods.

Overall this season, McAneney ranks second in the Capital Athletic Conference with a .611 save percentage, while Wayne has a league-high 26 caused turnovers. Hines and Drew Cornell also rank in the top-five in caused turnovers. Meanwhile, on the offensive side, Rice and Brady Altobello are tied for 10th in the CAC with 24 points, while Barry is second overall with a .545 shooting percentage.

Catholic enters Saturday's tilt after upending Berry, 15-13, on Wednesday. Freshman Sean Baudo paced the Cardinals with six goals during the contest. Three of his strikes came during a five-goal rally that broke a 6-6 tie on the way to the victory.

Overall this season, Vince Catenacci has been Catholic's most lethal scorer. The junior midfielder has 22 points, including 20 goals. He has also deposited six man-up tallies, which places him third in the NCAA. Meanwhile, freshman Mike McShea has won 108 of his 177 total faceoff attempts while corralling 61 ground balls. Between the pipes, Alex Mulyk has a .462 save percentage and a 10.86 goals-against-average in seven appearances.

Saturday's meeting will mark the fourth battle between CNU and Catholic. The two squads last met in 2009 with the Cardinals pulling out a 16-7 win in Washington, D.C.

After the weekend, Christopher Newport will kick off a three-game home stand on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Virginia Wesleyan.
