NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its men's basketball year-end honors Thursday morning, and two Christopher Newport student-athletes and Head Coach John Krikorian have received recognition.

Senior Marcus Carter was selected first team All-Conference, sophomore Jason Aigner was named second team All-Conference, and Krikorian was chosen the Coach of the Year in the CAC. The Captains are 23-3, ranked 11th in the country, and will host Salisbury Thursday night in a CAC semifinal conference tournament game at the Freeman Center.

Carter, from Williamsburg, is being honored by the conference for the third time in his illustrious career. It is his second first team award. Carter is currently tied for seventh on CNU's all-time scoring list, and was a first team All-America selection and CAC Player of the Year following his sophomore season. He is currently averaging 15.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for the Captains, and will set a new school record for games played Thursday night when he will see action in his 119th career game.

Aigner, a native of Fairfax, earns his first post-season honor from the CAC. The sharp-shooter has connected on 99 three-point field goals this season for the Captains, the second-most in a single season in school history. Aigner is averaging 15.6 points per game and is shooting almost 45 percent from beyond the arc.

Krikorian, who is in his ninth season leading the Captains, is the recipient of the CAC's Coach of the Year honor for the fourth straight season. He has led the Captains to four straight CAC regular-season titles and a win Thursday night would propel his team to the CAC Tournament title game for the sixth straight year. His squads have advanced to the NCAA Tournament five times and his 2015-16 team became the first in CNU history to advance to the Final Four. Krikorian currently has a record of 204-52 at CNU for a winning percentage of almost 80 percent. He becomes the first coach in league history to win the award four straight seasons.
