NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Seven Christopher Newport seniors will be celebrated in a pregame ceremony on Saturday night as the third-ranked Captains welcome in the University of Mary Washington (4-6-0, 1-1-0) for Capital Athletic Conference action. Christopher Newport will kickoff against the Eagles at 5:00 pm on Captains Field as the first game of a CAC doubleheader.
The Captains improved to 9-0-2 overall with a 10-0 win over Southern Virginia University on Wednesday night improving to 2-0-0 in conference play. Christopher Newport has won 20 conference games in a row dating back to October 22, 2016.
Against Mary Washington, the Captains are 9-4-1 with five straight victories in the all-time series. Since 2013, Christopher Newport has won eight of nine bouts while outscoring the Eagles, 25-6.

Prior to the game, the senior class of 2019 will be honored for their successes on and off the field as members of the team for the last four years. They are
Maddy Belanger,
Shaye Doherty,
Keiley McCarthy,
Logan Montel,
Carson Pokorny,
Sydney Rife, and
Hailey Shaw. The winningest senior class in program history has combined for a 66-6-4 overall record and three consecutive conference championships.
This year, Pokorny has four assists to give her 30 during her career. She trails Victoria Perry by just one helper for the top spot on the all-time chart at Christopher Newport. McCarthy has also chipped in four assists this season to help lead the way for the senior class, while Shaw has added two goals and an assist for five points.
Mary Washington enters Saturday's tilt after a 1-0 loss to Salisbury in CAC action on Wednesday night. The Eagles had won three of the last four prior to that loss, including a 3-0 shutout win over St. Mary's (Md.) in the conference opener. Rookie Amanda Krest leads the offense with four goals and two assists so far this season while senior Brielle Mitchell has added four goals and one assist for nine points thus far.
Following Saturday's Senior Night game, the Captains hit the road for five of the next six contests, starting with a road trip to St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday, October 9.
