YORK, Pa. -- While the Captains have clinched a first-round bye in the 2019 Capital Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship, there is still much to play for in the final two games of the season as playoff seeding has yet to be determined. The 23rd-ranked Christopher Newport Captains (10-2-3, 7-1-0) will travel to York (Pa.) (8-6-2, 4-4-0) as both teams look to better their position in the conference tournament on Saturday night at 7:00 pm.
The Captains come into the contest after a bounceback win against Southern Virginia University on Wednesday night following the team's second loss of the season. Christopher Newport has two losses this season, with both coming in overtime, and have won double digit games for the 23rd time in the last 24 seasons. York has played in five straight 1-0 games, going 3-2-0 in that run.

On Wednesday night, four different Captains scored goals in a 4-0 shutout over Southern Virginia. Senior
Michael Wilson netted the game-winning goal in the first half for his first score of the season to lead the way. He is one of the Captains' starting midfielders alongside
Cory Hogge,
Ethan Larson, and
Gabo Caicedo. The depth in the midfield has helped Christopher Newport post a 33-11 disparity in goals scored this season.
Senior
Derek Cook has led the defense to six shutouts and a 0.69 goals-against average while also pacing the Captains' attack with 17 points. Cook has six goals and five assists to lead the way while sophomore
Lincoln Kickbush has added 16 points on 7 goals and 2 assists.
Zion Friday leads the York offense with 17 points on 8 goals and 1 assist this season. Travis Gould has added 10 points on 4 goals and 2 assists while the rest of the offense has been spread around between 10 different goal scorers. Billy Bridegum has started eight games to lead a group of three goalkeepers with three or more starts this season. Bridegum has a 1.24 goals-against average with three shutouts.
The all-time series is knotted up at 7-7-5 between the two teams.
Following the Saturday evening matchup against the Spartans, the Captains will close the regular season at home on Wednesday, October 30 against Salisbury University.
