NEWPORT NEWS, Va. --
The Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will wrap up non-conference play on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when CNU hosts Randolph-Macon at Captains Turf Field.

Entering the contest, Christopher Newport sits at 4-5 on the season, including 1-4 at home. Randolph-Macon is 3-4 overall and 0-2 in road tilts.

For those fans unable to attend the game, live stats and a video stream of the action will be available at CNUsports.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the CNU schedule page.

The Captains are coming off of a 22-8 victory at Frostburg State on Sunday. Their 22 goals marked the most by the squad since drilling 23 against Sewanee in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Overall, eight different players scored at least two goals, including five by Sarah Culver. Catherine Leighty, Caitlin King, and Samantha Wettengel also added hat-tricks, while Carly Wilson dished out five assists.

In addition to her three goals and three assists, Leighty chipped in with 12 draw controls as well. That established a new freshman record at CNU and equaled the second-highest single-game total in program history. For her work, she was honored as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

So far this season, Culver ranks third in the conference with 31 goals, while Wilson is second with 21 assists. Meanwhile, on the defensive end, Kaitlyn Ready leads the league with 109 saves. She has posted at least 10 stops in seven straight contests, which stands as the longest run in program history.

Randolph-Macon comes to town after upending St. Mary's (Md.), 19-15, on Thursday. Electric on the offensive side, Alicia Hsieh posted eight goals against the Seahawks, which was one shy of equaling the single-game program record. Alex Lightfoot also came up one assist short of matching the school mark after dishing out seven helpers during the victory.

Overall this season, Hsieh leads the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with 29 goals and ranks second with 32 points, while Lightfoot also sits second in the league with 16 assists. On the other side of the field, Elicia Wells has compiled a 12.94 goals-against-average and a .487 save percentage.

In 15 all-time meetings between the two programs, Christopher Newport holds an 8-7 edge in the series. Last year, the Captains pulled out a 13-11 triumph in Ashland. Culver and Colleen Bourgal both scored twice for CNU, while Hsieh added a game-high five strikes for the Yellow Jackets.

Following the midweek match-up, Christopher Newport will remain at home for a CAC bout against St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
