NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The 28th-ranked Christopher Newport men's tennis program will open the spring schedule at home this weekend, taking on Methodist University on Saturday before a Sunday morning matchup against Millsaps College. The Captains (1-1) kick off a run of four straight home bouts to start the 2018 slate with the two matches this weekend.
First up, the Captains will take on their former conference rivals from the USA South Athletic Conference in Methodist University. The Monarchs opened the year with an 8-1 victory over Lynchburg College last week and will take on Millsaps on Friday in Newport News. CNU is 28-13 all-time against Methodist coming into Saturday's 4:00 pm start at the James River Country Club.
On Sunday, the Captains will take on the Jackson, Mississippi-based Majors of Millsaps College at 10:00 am. The matchup will just be the second all-time between the two programs, with CNU capturing a 9-0 win during the 2008 season in the only previous bout.
The Captains have been led by sophomore
