NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The 2018-2019 basketball season is just around the corner, and the Captains of Christopher Newport are nearing the end of the first week of practice.
John Krikorian's squad will host an Alumni game this Saturday at the Freeman Center, which is free and open to the public. The game is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
The Captains have a large group of returning players as well as a big class of newcomers. The senior trio of
Marcus Carter,
Tyler Femi, and
Logan Miller will be expected to lead the way along with returning juniors
Luther Gibbs,
Nick Parks,
Cutch Ellis,
Savonte Chappell, and
Noah Singer. CNU's sophomore returners include
Markues Stubbs,
Brock Geiman,
Liam Harrington,
Adrian Beasley,
Jason Aigner, and
Brandon Edmond. Newcomers include junior transfer
Dalon McHugh and freshmen
Keyshawn Jefferson,
Tyler Trimble,
Elijah Bowens,
Grant Yates, and
Timmy Woollum.
The Alumni squad that will challenge the Captains will be coached by former CNU assistants Erick Mays, Tyler Graham, and Bryan Dyke. The alums tentatively set to play include Mike Cherry, Tra Benefield, Conley Taylor, Kevin Regimbal, Justin Hampton, Hunter Wetherell, Connor Laframboise, Rayshard Brown, Luc Atangana, Mike Green,Â
Aaron McFarland, and Dante Selden.
