Christopher Newport is on a two-game roll after blanking both Bridgewater and Rhodes last week. Overall, the Captains have five shutouts this season and rank fourth in the nation with a 0.43 goals-against-average. Anchored by
Brittan Muir and
Mackenzie Neylon, the back line has limited opponents to fewer than six shots per game, while
Stephanie McKinney has done the rest. The senior goalie currently ranks 14th in the NCAA with an .850 save percentage.
Â
On the offensive end, 10 different Captains have at least two points this season.
Madison Doss leads the team with 13 points and has established a career-high with six goals. Meanwhile,
Courtney Fiest has 10 points and leads the CAC with six assists. Reigning All-Region performer
Rachael Allshouse has found the back of the cage four times as well.
Â
On the other side of the field, Randolph-Macon is coming off of a 3-1 victory over Wilson on Tuesday. Featuring a well-balanced attack, 12 Yellow Jackets already have at least one point this season, including freshman Austyn Faries, who has a pair of strikes. Meanwhile, three goalkeepers have split time between the pipes. Sophomore Katie Thompson leads the squad with 143 minutes of work while boasting a 1.95 goals-against-average.
Â
Washington & Lee has ripped off back-to-back wins entering the week after knocking off Elizabethtown and Juniata over the weekend. The Generals have already played three overtime games, including a marathon at Johns Hopkins that went to strokes. Lauren Paolano leads the team with three goals, while Ariyel Yavalar has been a force in the cage. The junior has played all 461 minutes and compiled an .805 save percentage to go along with a 1.21 goals-against-average.
Â
RMC and W&L are both familiar foes. The Captains have battled Randolph-Macon 16 times and sport a perfect 16-0 record in those meetings. The squad also has an 11-1 all-time ledger against the Generals.
