GREENSBORO, N.C. -- After capturing the 300th win in the career of head coach
Steve Shaw on their last appearance, the Christopher Newport men's soccer will look to begin taking strides toward the next milestone on Thursday evening, traveling to Greensboro College for non-conference action. The Captains (2-2-0) will face the Pride (3-2-0) at 4:00 pm in North Carolina, with live stats available at CNUsports.com.
CNU is off to a 2-2 start with their only setbacks coming to nationally-ranked competition. The Captains are outscoring opponents 16-4 as the potent offense is averaging 4.0 goals per game so far. In the early portion of the season, CNU ranks ninth nationally in scoring offense, total goals, and total assists.
Leading the charge on the offensive side of the ball is reigning CAC Player of the Year
Jimmy Grace, with 10 points on four goals and two assists.
Stephen Durbin and
James Lee each have two goals and an assist, with each contributing a game-winning strike so far this season.

CNU wil be taking on a Greensboro College squad they had the chance to see twice already as part of the Joe Pombriant/CNU Soccer Classic. After the Pride suffered a tough 2-1 setback in the opener to nationally-ranked Washington & Lee, the team has won three of the next four games for a 3-2 overall record.
Greensboro is outscoring opponents, 25-4, led by three players in double figure scoring already. Gerardo Peraza has four goals and four assists for 12 points, while Carlos Barragan has added five goals and one assists for 11 poinst. Finally, Samuel Linker, coming off the bench, has three goals and four assists for 10 points.
