NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport standouts Tim Daly and Marcus Carter each received All-Region recognition Monday from D3hops.com. Daly was selected first team in the Mid-Atlantic Region, while Carter was selected to the second team.

Daly, a senior from Richmond, was honored as the Player of the Year in the Capital Athletic Conference this season. The big man averaged 12 points and seven rebounds per game. Carter, a junior from Williamsburg, was named All-American last season as a sophomore. He posted an average of 13 points and seven rebounds per contest this season for the Captains.

Both Daly and Carter went over the 1,000-point mark for their careers this season, and the duo led the CNU squad to its second-straight CAC regular and post-season titles. CNU's season came to a close Friday night in suburban Boston, as the Captains were defeated by Keene State in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Christopher Newport had a 21-game winning streak snapped, and the Captains ended the campaign with a mark of 27-3.
