NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Saturday marks the regular-season home finale for the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport men's and women's basketball teams. The Captains host the Wolverines of Wesley College in a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader. The women's game begins at 2:00 p.m. followed by the men's action at 4:00 p.m. Prior to the start of each game, CNU will honor its senior student-athletes with a brief ceremony.

The Christopher Newport men's squad is riding a 14-game winning streak and ranked third in the nation. The Captains have also won 23 straight home games dating back to December of 2015. CNU, 20-2 overall and 14-1 atop the CAC, starts four seniors, and the Captains have been anchored by the play of Rayshard Brown, Tim Daly, Justin Hampton, and Kevin Regimbal. The quartet has enjoyed amazing success on and off the court, and have compiled an overall record of 89-21 (.809) over the last four seasons including the program's first trip to the Final Four last season.

The CNU women's squad is also 20-2 on the season, and 13-2 in the CAC. Bill Broderick's squad was ranked eighth in the country this week, and will honor two seniors on Saturday. Savannah Melvin and Taylor Delgado have been members of the squad for the last four seasons, and have been part of teams that have gone 85-22 (.794) and have advanced twice to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

CNU is 23-1 combined this season at the Freeman Center. The men are 12-0 playing on C.J. Woollum court, while the women suffered their first home defeat on Wednesday to Marymount and are now 11-1 at home.

Christopher Newport swept its doubleheader at Wesley on January 4th, with the women winning 70-51 and the men capturing a 71-62 decision.

The games Saturday will be streamed live on CNUsports.com/live. The men's game will be broadcast live on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) with the pre-game show beginning at 3:40 p.m.
