Men's Basketball Opens Home Slate Sunday as 3-0 Captains Entertain Dickinson

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport plays at home for the first time this season on Sunday, as the 14th-ranked Captains take on the Red Devils of Dickinson College. Tipoff time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the Freeman Center.

CNU is off to a 3-0 start, and captured the title of the Rotary of Frederick Holiday Classic last weekend at Hood College in Frederick, MD. Christopher Newport downed Catholic and Wilmington (OH) to win the two-day tournament. Senior Aaron McFarland averaged 22 points per game, matching his career high with 27 vs. Catholic and adding 17 against Wilmington, to be named MVP of the event. Senior big man Spencer Marin was also selected to the All-Tournament squad. Marin is averaging 15.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game so far this season.

Dickinson heads into Sunday's tilt with a 2-1 record to start the new year. The Red Devils won at Muhlenberg, 89-68, on Tuesday night in their last game. Last season, CNU traveled to Carlisle, PA., and defeated Dickinson, 76-56.

John Krikorian's squad has won 26 straight home games at the Freeman Center after going 15-0 last season on the home court. CNU hasn't lost at home since December 30, 2015. when the Captains were beaten by Scranton in the title game of the Captains Shootout.

All Christopher Newport games are broadcast live on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM), with Sunday's pre-game show beginning at 3:40 p.m. The game will also be streamed live on CNUsports.com/live.
