FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- After making the deepest run in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships since 2010, senior
David Reed saw his tournament appearance come to a close in the semifinals on Monday morning. The Captains' senior leader dropped a 7-6, 6-4 decision to top-seeded Daniel Levine from Carnegie Mellon University.
Reed earned a spot in the Championship Draw semifinals with four wins on Saturday and Sunday, and took the court at 9:30 Monday morning. The CNU senior defeated back-to-back seeded players on Sunday to advance to the semifinals, marking the first time since Gian Heyer and Eric Shulman accomplished the feat in 2010.
The Easley, S.C. native finished the event with a 4-1 mark in his final appearance in the ITA Regional Championships.
Levine advanced to the championship to face his teammate, Revanth Boppana, making it an all Tartan final. CNU will travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. next weekend to face CMU to kick off the dual season in the fall. The Captains will also face Oberlin College on the Tartans' neutral courts.
