Nationally-Ranked Captains Host Penn State-Harrisburg Saturday at the Freeman Center

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -
Christopher Newport hosts another Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday at the Freeman Center. CNU, ranked in the Top 5 in both men's and women's basketball, entertains the Lions of Penn State-Harrisburg. The action begins at 2:00 p.m. with the women's game followed by the men's action at 4:00 p.m.

Saturday will be Hall of Fame Induction Day, as six new members of the Christopher Newport Athletic Hall of Fame will be honored at halftime of the men's game.

CNU's women's squad is 18-0 on the season, and 11-0 atop the CAC. Bill Broderick's squad is ranked fifth in the country, and coming off a 61-58 victory over Salisbury on Wednesday night. Junior Sam Porter enjoyed a career night, scoring 33 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to lead the Captains.

The Christopher Newport men are now 16-2 overall and have won ten straight games. The Captains, ranked third in the nation, came from behind Wednesday night to slip past Salisbury, 55-53. Junior Marcus Carter knocked down two free throws with 2.9 second remaining to decide the game. Senior Tim Daly posted his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The CNU men have now won 21 straight home games at the Freeman Center dating back to December of 2015.

Christopher Newport swept Penn State-Harrisburg back on January 14th when the schools met in Middletown, Pa. The women won by a score of 63-46, while the men posted a 73-55 triumph.

Tickets for the twin bill will be available at the Freeman Center Ticket Office prior to each game.

The action will be streamed live on CNUsports.com/live, and the men's game will be broadcast on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) with the pre-game show beginning at 3:40 p.m.
