DOVER, DE.- The Christopher Newport softball team continued to put up big numbers on Wednesday, as the 15th-ranked Captains swept a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader at Wesley College. CNU took the opener, 15-1, and then won the nightcap, 10-0. Both games were halted after five innings due to the eight-run rule.
Christopher Newport has now won ten games in a row, all in the Capital Athletic Conference, and has now scored 122 runs in conference play (12.2 per game). The Captains are now 21-6 overall and 10-0 atop the CAC.
The Captains posted 25 runs on 28 hits for the afternoon, recording 14 hits in both games. Junior outfielder
Meagan Jones had another big day at the plate, going five-for-seven with five runs scored and five runs batted in.
In the opener, CNU opened the game with four runs in the top of the first and never looked back. Junior catcher
Hannah Cook drove home two runs with a first inning double, and Jones later knocked in three runs with a third inning double as the Captains cruised to the 15-1 triumph.
The Captains plated three runs in the first inning of game two at DuPont Field, and then put the game on ice with seven runs in the third in the 10-0 victory.

Brittney Walters went deep. Hill's blast, a solo shot in the third inning, was her sixth of the season to lead the team. Walters added a three-run shot later in the third inning, her fourth of the season.

Krista Lewis allowed just one run on five hits for the day. Marshall won the opener to improve to 11-2 on the season. She gave up one run on three hits while striking out three. Lewis upped her record to 10-4 by throwing five shutout innings, allowing just two hits, and striking out seven Wolverines.
Wesley is now 18-11 overall, but just 1-9 in the CAC.

Keith Parr's squad moved up six spots to 15th in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's Top 25 poll.
CNU will conclude the regular season this weekend at Captains Park. Saturday will be Senior Day as CNU entertains York College of Pennsylvania. Sunday, the Captains play host to Penn State Harrisburg in the regular-season finale. Both CAC doubleheaders will begin at 1:00 p.m.
