SALISBURY, Md. -- The 37th-ranked Christopher Newport men's tennis team will travel to regionally-ranked Salisbury University on Thursday for the regular season finale. The match will be a preview of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals, as the two teams will play eachother again in their next match set for April 21. Thursday's battle will be for the second-seed and the right to host that postseason match next week.
The nationally-ranked Captains (12-9, 5-1) will look to flip the script on their recent woes, falling in four of their last five matches. All four setbacks have come to nationally-ranked opponents and are 11-2 against unranked foes this season. Salisbury (15-4, 5-1) has won eight of their last nine matches, with the only loss coming to nationally-ranked Mary Washington. Thursday's matchup begins at 2:00 pm.

Cerny leads the team with 14 singles wins this year, primarily at No. 3 with a 10-4 mark. Reed is ranked 14th in singles, playing all 21 matches at the top line with 12 victories. Sophomore
Arttu Fiva also has 12 wins this season in singles action.
Salisbury has been impressive in both singles and doubles this season, winning 78.9% of their individual matches. Daniel Albers and Eric Spangler, ranked 6th in the region, is one of the best tandems in the conference with a 15-1 record, all at the No. 1 position. Spangler has added a 14-1 mark at No. 2 singles and is 15-1 overall. Albers and Spangler are both ranked in the regional singles poll.
