Sikh, ranked 10th in the Atlantic South region, dropped the first set to Reed, ranked 14th, but rallied for wins in the second and third. Reed dropped the match by a final score of 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Rookie Justin Cerny captured the other set victory for CNU, playing against Fernando Nardelli at the No. 3 line. Cerny won the first set, 7-5, but dropped the second, 6-1. Playing in a third set match tiebreaker, the two teetered back and forth before Nardelli managed to pull away for the 10-7 win.

Reed and Cerny also played together at No. 1 doubles in the closest pairs matchup of the day. The CNU tandem dropped an 8-4 decision to Sikh and senior Robert Kjellberg.
