NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Captains Field will play host to another key Capital Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday night as the 10th-ranked Christopher Newport men's soccer team takes on Frostburg State University at 7:00 pm. The Captains (9-0-3, 2-0-1) are atop the CAC standings and the Bobcats (8-3-0, 2-1-0) will be looking to bounce back after their first conference loss of the season on Tuesday. CNU leads the all-time series against Frostburg State, 3-0-1, but the Bobcats managed a scoreless draw against the Captains last season. This season, Frostburg State won five of its first six games and were riding another modest three-game winning streak before a 1-0 setback to Mary Washington on Tuesday. The Captains are unbeaten through the first 12 games of the season and boast the second longest unbeaten streak in the nation at 20 games.
The Captains dropped to 10th in the NSCAA National Rankings this week and are listed as the No. 6 team in the nation by D3soccer.com. CNU is also the second-ranked team in the South Atlantic Regional Rankings released by the NSCAA, behind only Montclair State (11-1-0). A dominant defense has led the way in 2015, as CNU holds the top spot in the CAC in team goals against average, at 0.61. The Captains have earned seven shutouts in the first 12 games, ranking 31st in the nation in shutout percentage.
In goal, senior
Nolan Mann has had the lion's share of action, playing in just under 1140 minutes with a 0.63 goals against average and 77.1% save percentage. The senior has only faced 36 shots on-goal this season, as the defense has limited their opponents to just three attempts on-frame per game. Senior

Bobby Seifert have controlled the middle of the back line, while
Zach Douglass,
Cameron Vaughn and
Sammy Blosser have anchored the outside.
Offensively, junior forward
Patrick Burns continues to be a dangerous threat up top, scoring a team-high 19 points on eight goals and three assists. Senior
Ryan Balfour is the only other Captain in double figures, with 10 points, scoring four goals and adding two assists. The potent offense has gotten goals scored from nine different players this year, including game-winning tallies out of five different Captains.
Frostburg State's offense has been led by Guy Nabo, tied with Burns for the second-highest point total in the CAC. Nabo has also registered eight goals with three assists, while three of his scores have been game-winning goals. Kelvin Tata and K.J. Davis have each added six points for head coach Keith Byrnes, coaching the Bobcats for his 14th season. Defensively, Frostburg State is one of the more sound teams in the conference, giving up just eight goals in 11 games this season for a GAA of 0.73. Hassan Mostafa, a junior goalkeeper, was a first team All-CAC and third team All-Region netminder in 2014 and is off to another strong start this season. Mostafa has an 84.6% save percentage in over 881 minutes, allowing eight goals with 44 saves.
Following the action against Frostburg State, CNU will head back on the road to face St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday, October 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 pm.
