CNU Women's Soccer Travels to Marymount for Regular Season Finale Wednesday

ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Christopher Newport women's soccer team will close out the 2015 regular season on Wednesday at 4:00 pm, traveling to Marymount University (4-12-0, 0-8-0) with a chance to clinch a third straight Capital Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship. Weather permitting, live stats and a live video webcast will be available of all the action as CNU looks to bounce back after their first loss in the month of October.

This month, the Captains ran off a season-long eight match winning streak before dropping its first game since September 26 on Sunday to the Roanoke College Maroons. CNU improved their overall record to 13-4-1 with a 7-1-0 CAC mark after the strong performance in October, while also improving to 22-3-1 all-time in the month under third year head coach Dan Weiler. CNU will close out the month and the regular season against the Saints, against whom the Captains own a 6-0 advantage all-time.

Playoff seeding is not set for the 2015 CAC Tournament, and will be decided through the league's games on Wednesday. With a win, the Captains would finish the season as co-champs with St. Mary's (Md.), while securing the top seed and home field throughout the conference postseason. A draw or loss would see the Seahawks capture the league title and top seed. Regardless of Wednesday's outcome, the Captains have locked up a first round bye and will host a CAC Semifinal match on Tuesday, November 3.

Following up a Conference Player of the Year season in 2014, junior Victoria Perry has followed up her tremendous sophomore campaign with another high-caliber performance in 2015. She leads the league in total shots and ranks third in total goals (11) and points (28). She has gotten support from senior midfielder Lindsay Mondloch, with 13 points, and junior forward Allie McWilliams, with 11. They are currently tied for second with eachother for the most assists in the CAC this season, with seven apiece. Rookie Gabby Gillis has also added nine points, ranking second on the team with four goals scored.

The Saints have struggled defensively, with a 4.06 goals-against average, splitting 16 starts between five players at goalkeeper. Offensively, junior forward Kirsten Campbell has seven goals to lead the way for Marymount, while fellow junior Chloe McAuliffe has five goals and four assists.

The game will be played as the opening game of a doubleheader with the men's teams. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 pm at Long Bridge Park.
