BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Christopher Newport women's lacrosse team will cap off its four-game road swing on Wednesday afternoon when the Captains head to Bridgewater for a 3 p.m. showdown at the Jopson Athletic Complex.
After opening the road trip with back-to-back victories against Virginia Wesleyan and Wesley, CNU stumbled against Washington College on Sunday and now sits at 4-3 overall. Bridgewater, who will be making its home debut on Wednesday, also enters the contest at 4-3. The squad won its last outing, 22-1, at Hollins on March 15.
Bridgewater and Christopher Newport have only battled once in women's lacrosse with CNU posting a 17-5 victory in 2005.

Christopher Newport has won four of its last five contests, including three double-digit victories against Randolph-Macon, Redlands, and Wesley.
Meaghan Galvin has been at the forefront of the attack and earned CAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades for her efforts. Currently, the freshman ranks second in the conference with 19 goals and 29 points. She also leads the way with 32 draw controls.
Along with Galvin,
Erin Callahan has produced 29 points, including a team-high 13 assists. In addition to the young standouts, senior
Jessica Singer ranks third on the team with 24 points, and fellow veteran
Ashton Marshall has scored 14 times. Sophomore
Kylie Chaplin has also developed into a consistent offensive threat, collecting 17 goals this season.
On the back end,
Emily Johnson leads the squad with 17 caused turnovers, while
Morgan Smith has forced 14.
Kirsten Mendelsohn has caused seven as well, while
Hanna Slough boasts a .507 save percentage and a 9.96 goals-against-average.
Bridgewater enters the game coming off of a 21-goal victory over Hollins during which Katie Freeman notched seven goals and a pair of assists. Overall, the senior ranks second on the team with 18 points, while sophomore Jesse Colligan leads the way with 21. Caroline Fletcher and Paige Hennessy have also scored 11 times apiece.
On defense, Caroline Augsburger has forced 14 turnovers, while Fletcher has caused 10. Rachel Gruber has been a mainstay between the pipes, tallying a .457 save percentage and a 9.00 goals-against-average.
