DOVER, Del. -- Conference play continues for the Christopher Newport University basketball teams this weekend, as the Captains travel to Dover, Delaware for a doubleheader against Wesley College Saturday afternoon, with tip times set for 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. The CNU women will look to extend a season-high 13-game winning streak, while the Captains men's team will look to topple one of the nation's top team's in the sixth-ranked Wolverines.

Links to live stats and a live video webcast will be available at CNUsports.com.

The men's battle will tip off at approximately 3:00 pm, as head coach John Krikorian will look to guide the Captains to their third win over a nationally-ranked program this season. Earlier this season, CNU landed big wins over No. 16 Randolph-Macon College and No. 6 Virginia Wesleyan College. Both teams are coming off of losses, as CNU stumbled on the road at Salisbury University while the Wolverines suffered just their second setback of the year on the road at York (Pa.).

Freshman Tim Daly has been playing well for Krikorian, finishing with a career-high 20 points against Southern Virginia and backing up that performance with a team-high 16 against the Sea Gulls. The rookie is now averaging 7.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game and has started all but two games this season. Offensively and defensively, though, the Captains continue to be led by senior preseason All-American Tra Benefield. The senior guard/forward is second in the league in scoring, with 18.0 points per game, and the team's leading rebounder ranks in the top six in the conference with 6.9 boards per contest.

The Captains hold an 8-3 advantage in the all-time series, but Wesley picked up a win in the earlier matchup this season. Led by the CAC's top rebounder, David Langan, the Wolverines are a veteran team that features five players averaging eight points per game or more. Langan is averaging a double-double, pairing his ten rebounds per game with 16.2 points. The senior is joined by three more upperclassmen in the starting lineup, as seniors Eric Selby (9.2 ppg), Brandin Youngblood (8.2) and junior Quincy Pettiford (9.6) all average more than 26 minutes per game.

On the women's side, the Captains will look to add to their current roll of 13 straight victories when they take on the Wolverines at 1:00 pm. The win streak is tied for the fifth longest in program history and includes a 71-52 victory over these Wolverines. CNU will take on a Wesley squad that, like their men's team, features one of the top rebounders in the league. Rookie Brionna Johnson is the team's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging a double-double with 14.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Against CNU earlier this season, Johnson poured in 21 points while grabbing nine rebounds.

The Captains continue to lean on their veteran core as the season progresses, with all three of their All-Conference performers from 2013 averaging double figures in 2014. Seniors Tia Perry (16.9 ppg), Nicole Mitchell (16.6 ppg) and junior Camry Green (10.0)  are also the team's top three rebounders, averaging nearly 23 boards per game combined. Green missed the first half of the season due to injury, but has exploded back onto the scene with three double-doubles in her first ten games back. Speaking of double-doubles, Mitchell has three in her last five games, including a career-best 38-point performance at Frostburg State.

Following Saturday's doubleheader, the Captains will return home for three straight before closing the season on the road at Marymount University.
