NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will continue its homestand on Wednesday when the squad welcomes in Randolph-Macon for a 7 p.m. battle under the lights at Captains Turf Field.

The game marks the midpoint of CNU's season-opening five game home stretch. That run started with a 14-6 setback against Washington & Lee before the squad rebounded with an 11-7 triumph over Ferrum on Saturday. Randolph-Macon enters the game with an 0-2 record after falling to Mary Washington and Catholic to open the season.

Christopher Newport and Randolph-Macon have a longstanding rivalry dating back to the first year of the CNU program. Overall, the squads have faced off seven times with the Yellow Jackets holding a 6-1 edge in the series. However, the Captains won the previous meeting after rolling past R-MC, 12-4, in Ashland last season.

This year, the Captains have received strong contributions from their freshmen, including Brooks Billings, who ranks second on the team with four points. Randy Foster has also scored a goal and dished out two assists, while fellow first-year standout Nick Kirschke has won 67 percent of his faceoffs. Matt Hayden has started both games in goal and boasts a .548 save percentage as well.

Among the veterans on the roster, Gregory Limon has a team-best five points and four goals, while Aaron Chrzaszcz posted a hat-trick against Ferrum on Saturday. On the defensive end, Brenden Dwyer leads the way with seven caused turnovers, while Teddy Pekalski and Steven West have forced five apiece.

Randolph-Macon comes to town after dropping a tough 11-10 decision to Catholic in double-overtime on Saturday. During the contest, Justin Butler posted four points for the Yellow Jackets, while Ryan Davidson came through with a hat-trick. Anthony D'Orsaneo led the defense with four caused turnovers.

So far this year, Butler and Jason Andrews are tied for the team-lead with six points apiece. Davidson leads the squad with four goals, while Nick Benhoff has won 22 of his 46 faceoff attempts. On the defensive end, Brian Davies has a .489 save percentage and an 11.47 goals-against-average.
