MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- An early scoring burst led by junior Lindsay Mondloch helped lead the Christopher Newport women's soccer team to their fourth straight win Saturday. The Captains improved to 8-2-2 overall with a 4-0-0 CAC mark after dropping Penn State Harrisburg (5-7-0, 1-3-0) on the road, 3-1. In the first fifteen minutes, Mondloch staked CNU with a 2-0 lead after scoring a goal and setting up another.

Eleven times this season, the Captains have scored in the first 25 minutes of a match, showcasing a fervent and potent offensive mindset for head coach Dan Weiler. On Saturday, in a league game against the Lions, it was the junior midfielder that led the early attack.

Just 6:45 into the game, Mondloch scored an unassisted goal for her third scoring strike of the season. Just over eight minutes later, she set up a goal by defender Sam Rabinek. The assist was Mondloch's third, and the second scoring mark of the season for Rabinek.

The Captains offense dominated throughout the game, holding an impressive 34-6 advantage in total shots, including an 18-1 edge in shots on-goal. CNU continuously pressured the Lions keeper, Mackenzie Gates, with attempts on-frame. She faced 10 shots on-goal in the first half and eight more in the second.

The home team pulled within one in the second half when Hannah Jorich set up Eliza Grim for the tally in the 56th minute, but it would prove to be the only shot on-goal the Captains would give up all game. The CNU defense, led by Rabinek, rookies Kira Warner, Carly Melkus and senior Kelsey Thomas, would give up just six total shots.

Senior Joy Piirto added an insurance goal just two minutes following the Penn State Harrisburg goal. CNU's leading scorer, Victoria Perry, assisted on the goal by Piirto, who picked up her fifth goal of the season. Perry's helper was her fourth of the season and tenth of her young career, moving into the top 20 all-time at CNU after just 30 career games.

The Captains will not have a lot of time to reflect on the victory, turning around to play another game on Sunday, October 12, as they travel to Elizabethtown College (8-3-0) for a 2:00 pm matchup. Live stats and a live video webcast will be available online.
