ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Due to the threat of inclement weather in the Rocky Mount, N.C. area, the USA South Athletic Conference has announced a change in the men's and women's tennis tournament location. The opening round of the 2013 USA South Tournament will be moved indoors at two locations: the Belmont Tennis Center in Rocky Mount and the East Carolina Indoor Tennis Center in Greenville, N.C.
Both Christopher Newport matches on the opening day have been scheduled for the Belmont Tennis Center. Times have been changed for a second time, with CNU men now returning to their originally scheduled match time of 9:00 am. The Captains, seeded number two in the conference tournament, will take on #7-seeded LaGrange College in the opener. Led by first team All-Conference selections
Kyle Tobin and
Chiraag Shetty, the Captains are 14-4 this season leading into the tournament matchup.
On the women's side, first team All-Conference player
Kim Morrissett and the rest of the Captains will take on host and #7-seeded N.C. Wesleyan at 1:00 pm. The Captains are 15-6 overall, including a 10-1 mark against league opponents this season.
The remainder of the tournament will be played at the originally scheduled location on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan.
