Bupe Okeowo scored a point in her ninth straight game, giving CNU the early lead in the 12th minute of action.
The Captains (14-3-2) will now have to rest their postseason hopes in the hands of the NCAA Selection Committee. York College earns the Capital Athletic Conference's automatic berth into the tournament and awaits word of their first round opponent and location.
The championship was hotly contested between the top two teams in the league, as the Spartans pulled out its second conference championship while becoming the sixth different team to win in the last six years. They won the shootout by converting just one shot, as Beth Bunn knocked home the first of the ten attempts off of the post and in. The Captains put four of their five shots on frame, but Spartans keeper Melanie Glessner stopped each attempt. The Spartans missed on their other four attempts, but won the draw, 1-0, thanks to Bunn's conversion. CNU keeper

In regulation, the Captains took an early lead on their home field. Okeowo, who was red hot for the Captains in the second half of the season, scored her 14th goal of the season just 11:53 into the contest. She converted on a pass by rookie
Victoria Perry, blasting home a shot from six yards out, deflecting off a defender and in for the score.Â
The two teams were evenly matched throughout, as Glessner was forced to make six saves in regulation, while Casanova made seven. CNU outshot the visitors, 12-9, and had a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.Â
WIth less than three minutes remaining, the Spartans finally broke through to tie the game and force overtime. Jenn Lindsay headed home her third goal of the season off a pair of crisp passes. Elexa Sherman played the corner for Bunn, who sent a perfect cross into the box for Lindsay.Â
Neither team could get much going forward in the extra time, as there was just one shot attempted. Okeowo played a shot high of the goal in the first overtime but missed the frame.Â
