Women's Lacrosse Takes on Ferrum in USA South Tournament Semifinal Tomorrow at 1:00pm

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Newport University women's lacrosse team is set to take on Ferrum College in the USA South Conference Tournament semifinal game tomorrow at 1:00pm in Burlington, N.C. The Captains are looking for their seventh consecutive conference tournament title.

The Captains finished out the regular season last weekend with a 14-10 victory over Shenandoah for a 7-0 conference record. The Captains have not lost a regular season conference match in six season.

CNU is led offensively by Ashton Marshall, Jessica Singer and Lauren King. Marshall, USA South Player of the Year, has 60 points from 43 goals and 17 assists. Singer has collected 33 points from 26 goals and seven assists while King has 34 point from 25 goals and nine assists.

Monica Evans is leading the Captains' defense with 32 ground balls and has 15 caused turnovers. Midfielder Becca Geist leads the team in caused turnovers with 19 and has 14 goals and 14 assists.

CNU goalkeeper, Hannah Wilkerson, has started every game for the Captains and has an 8.24 goals against average with a total of 64 saves.

Ferrum's Brooke Hewartson is leading the nation in points with 102 from 58 goals and 44 assists. Hewartson also leads the team in caused turnovers with 16. Courtney Hamm has collected 64 goals and eight assists.

Caila Cummings has won 90 draw controls to lead the Panthers and goalkeeper Amanda Cheney has made 125 saves and has a 9.88 goals against average.

The Captains and Panthers are set to play at Springwood Park in Burlington, N.C. tomorrow at 1:00pm. The No. 3 seed Greensboro and No. 2 seed Shenandoah play at 3:30pm. The winner of the games on Friday will play in the championship game on Saturday at 1:00pm.
