NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Newport University women's lacrosse team improved to 5-1 with a 22-3 defeat of USA South foe Agnes Scott today on Captains Field. Junior
Lauren King led the way for the Captains scoring four goals.
Elizabeth Bryant scored the first goal for the Captains just over two minutes into the game off a free position. The Captains scored two more before the Scotties netted their first of the game for a 3-1 score ten minutes into the first half.
The Captains put away three more goals in the next ten minutes of play to extend their lead to five. Agnes Scott scored their second goal of the game at the 18:17 mark before CNU went on an eight-goal streak extending their lead to 12. The Scotties scored their final goal of the game with seven minutes to go in the half for a 14-3 halftime score.
The Captains did all the scoring in the second half, putting away eight goals for a 22-3 final score.

Maddy Connor and
Alexis Mooney each scored three goals in addition to King's four.
Hannah Wilkerson picked up her fifth win playing 40 minutes and making two saves and allowing three goals. Freshman
Cassie Raithel played the remainder of the game without seeing a shot from the Scotties.
The Captains outshot the Scotties 45 to six and had 21 ground balls to the Scotties' one.
Lauren King led with seven draw controls and
Rachel Tomlinson had a team-high two caused turnovers.
Kelly Lane dished out the most assists with three.
CNU returns to Captains Field on Saturday as they host Ferrum College at 3:00pm.
