Eric Shulman dropped 48th ranked Michael Goldstein in straight sets (6-2, 6-3) and pulled out a big win in a tiebreak with partner
Matt King in No.1 doubles, but the Captains (0-1) fell to Washington & Lee in their season opener on Saturday. The Generals won 5-4, holding on by winning four singles matches and one doubles.
In doubles, Shulman and White took on Mac Davis and Goldstein, seeing their match stretched to a tiebreak. It was the Captains tandem that won the long match, 9-8 (7-5).
Robbie Wagner and
Kyle Tobin collected the win at No. 3 doubles, beating Michael Freeman and Ben Fass, 8-4
Shulman also won, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles over Goldstein and the final win of the day came at No. 2 singles, as
Gian Heyer defeated Tyler Shamshiri, 6-1, 6-4.
The Captains next match is on the road at Division I East Carolina on Friday, February 24.
