NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Both of the Christopher Newport University basketball teams will return to action on Tuesday, as the Captains play host to N.C. Wesleyan College in a conference doubleheader. The women's team, riding a ten-game winning streak, will take on the Bishops at 5:30 pm, followed immediately by the men's team coming off its first loss of 2012, to #5 Va. Wesleyan College.
In the first game of the doubleheader, CNU (15-3, 10-1) will look to extend a pair of long win streaks, including the season-long ten game streak this year. The Captains also boast a 13-game winning streak against the Bishops, dating back to the 2004-05 season.

Tia Perry in both scoring (12.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.9 rpg), while classmate
Nicole Mitchell (10.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg) is right behind. The Captains team defense ranks among the nation's best, holding opponents to just 49.6 points per game, 16th in the nation.
The Bishops are a young squad, led by junior Samantha Urquhart and sophomore Tiffany Bell. Urquhart is averaging 10.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game while the second-year guard, Bell, is scoring a team-best 11.7 points per game.
Tipping at approximately 7:30 pm, the Captains men's team (16-4, 7-0) will look to remain undefeated in conference play in one of the toughest remaining conference games. The Bishops, defending conference champs and picked to finish first in the 2012 USA South Preseason Poll, come in sporting a 9-9 overall record, and are 3-3 in USA South play. The visitors come in winning three of the last four games, while the Captains are coming off their first setback since Dec. 1.

Mike Cherry earned his fourth Rookie of the Week commendation Monday, and is now averaging 12.4 points per game to go with his 44 assists and 29 steals. Biberaj had a career-night against VWC in the Captains' last game, scoring 21 points to up his season average to 10.6 points per game.
The Bishops have a veteran group coming into the Freeman Center, led by three seniors in double figures. Matt Dougherty paces the group at 12.6 points per game, followed by Domarius Thomas and Alex Murray with 11.9 and 10.9, respectively.
