Captains Prepare for Tough Test Saturday at Greensboro

Two remaining undefeated teams in USA South face off

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Christopher Newport puts its nine-game winning streak on the line Saturday, as the team faces a tough conference test on the road. The two remaining undefeated teams in the USA South, CNU and Greensboro College, will face off at 4:00 pm at Hanes Gym.

CNU is 13-3 overall this season with a perfect 5-0 mark in league play while the Pride enter Saturday's showdown 12-4 overall, 4-0 in the USA South. The game will feature two of the nation's Top 25 offenses as Greensboro ranks 21st, averaging 83.5 points per game, and the Captains rank 24th, pouring in 82.9 per night.

All five starters for the Captains are averaging 9.5 ppg or more, led by senior Conley Taylor with a league-best 20.7 ppg. Sophomore Tra Benefield leads the team in rebounding with 6.9 boards per game while she ranks fourth in the league with 16.6 points per game.

Four Pride players are averaging double digits this season led by the backcourt tandem of senior T.J. Holman and Damian Dixon. Both are chipping in over 15 points per game and Holman is hitting for over 60% from the field, ranking second in the league.
