HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Christopher Newport University volleyball team finished the day with another 3-0 victory in the Haverford College Tournament as they defeated Bluffton University. The Captains improve to 3-0 while the loss drops Bluffton to 1-1.

Set scores for the match were 25-17, 25-14 and 25-16.

Cory Harris led the Captains with 12 kills while Chelsea McClure had eight with only eight attempts. Nine other Captains combined for a total of 24 kills. The Captains had a team hitting percentage of .383 and held Bluffton to .068.

 Jessie Heavenrich had 26 assists while Alyssa Kidd added 12. Abby Hogge and Brooke Moore each had a pair of aces.  Junior Kara Elder led with 10 digs while freshman Katie Jarrett got up for three blocks.

Bluffton was led by Nichole Wood with eight kills and Kyleigh Whitsel with 22 assists.

The Captains return to action tomorrow as they face Coast Guard at 12:00pm followed by Stevens Institute at 4:00pm.
