#17 Captains Host Virginia Wesleyan Tonight at 7:00pm

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The #17 field hockey squad is hosting the Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan tonight on Captains Turf Field. Game time is set for 7:00pm. The Captains and Marlins have met eight times with the Captains leading the series 5-3. The last four games have gone to CNU who won 9-0 last season.

The Captains are returning to the field after a 2-0 home victory over Wesley College. The win improved the Captains to 3-2 with their two losses coming to now top-ranked Salisbury and Division I Liberty University.

Junior Caitlin Cahill has tallied the most goals for the Captains with three followed by senior Lauren Cherry who has picked up two. Junior Chrissy Kurecki has a goal and two assists for the Captains.

Defenders Brianna Milne, Allie Hackbarth and Chelsea Hines have each picked up a defensive save. Goalkeeper Jaime Dowling has a save percentage of .818 with 18 total saves and only four allowed goals.

The Marlins are currently 2-3 and are coming off a 2-0 conference win over Bridgewater College. The Marlins are being led offensively by Allie Lanna with three goals. Evan Bunting and Tanya Puccio have both added two.

Kirsten Olson has seen the most time in the cage for the Marlins earning all five starts. She's collected 20 saves and allowed 11 goals. Valeria Nowlan has the lone defensive save for Virginia Wesleyan.
