NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Christopher Newport University volleyball squad, now 9-2, will host USA South opponent, North Carolina Wesleyan tonight at the Freeman Center. The match is set to start at 7:00pm.

The Captains are currently 2-0 in conference play while the Bishops are 2-1 in conference and 6-4 overall. They defeated Mary Baldwin and Greensboro in three sets each and fell to Meredith 2-3. The Captains' two wins came last weekend to Peace (3-0) and Meredith (3-0).

The Captains and Bishops have met 70 times in program history and the Captains lead the series 52-18. CNU is currently on a 25-game winning streak against the Bishops with their last win coming in 1999.

The Bishops are being led offensively by junior Meredith Smith who has 112 kills and is averaging 3.5 kills per set and senior Mackenzie Tingle who has 242 assists for a 7.12 per set average. Defensively, junior Anna Hart is leading the team with 15 blocks and junior Shana Ayers has 200 digs (5.71 per set).

Junior Cory Harris is leading the Captains in kills with 101, 2.89 per set, and Jessie Heavenrich is averaging 10.88 assists per set with 370 total this season. Bailey Jensen is leading with 34 blocks and Abby Hogge is averaging 5.11 digs per set with 184 total.
