WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Christopher Newport won a pair of points in doubles play, but were swept in singles action by 30th ranked Washington & Lee (10-1) to drop its second straight match, falling to 6-4 overall this season.
CNU's No. 1 tandem,
Gian Heyer and
Matt King were knotted up in a tie with Mac Davis and Will Hall of Washington & Lee when a serious injury to Hall ended the match. CNU also won at No. 2, with
Eric Shulman and
Dusty Nelson dropping Jonathan Gaffney and Jeremy Brecht in a tight 9-7 contest.
CNU, seeking a turnaround after two consecutive losses, will return to action Tuesday at North Carolina Wesleyan, the two-time defending USA South regular-season and tournament champion.
