NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The second-ranked Christopher Newport University men's soccer team (13-0-1) will wrap up the regular season home schedule on Wednesday night, as they host Mary Washington (7-5-3) for Senior Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Captains Field.
The Captains will honor the senior class in a special pregame ceremony before taking on the Eagles.
CNU is unbeaten this season with a 7-0 mark in home games. The Captains are led by senior midfielder
Brian Lybert, who ranks fourth in the nation in assists per game (0.83) and eighth in the nation in points per game (2.5).
Mary Washington has been led by Nick Shepherd with seven total points, while freshman goalkeeper Tyler Back has taken over the starting job posting a 0.79 goals against average.
Last season, CNU beat Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, 1-0, to take a one-game edge in the all-time series. The Captains are up 16-15-3 in the series.
