CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 14 Christopher Newport University field hockey team traveled to Massachusetts to take on Rhodes College in a neutral site game and won 4-1. This is the third meeting of the tow teams and the Captains have won all three.

Almost thirteen minutes into the game the Captains earned a penalty corner that resulted in their first goal of the game. Senior Brianna Milne dished the ball to junior Caitlin Cahill who shot the ball past the Rhodes goalkeeper.

Rhodes equalized just two minutes later with an unassisted goal from Katie Faucher.

Cahill put the Captains up by one with a goal off a pass from senior Paige Childers. Childers scored a goal just seven seconds before the end of the first half to give the Captains a 3-1 lead that would take them into the second half.

A minute into play in the second half the Captains earned a free possession outside the circle. Sophomore Marlene Lichty dribbled the ball into the circle and ripped a shot into the back of the cage for the Captains' fourth and final goal.

CNU outshot Rhodes 25 to six and had 10 corners to Rhodes' five.

Captains' goalkeeper Jamie Dowling had five saves and played all 70 minutes for CNU. Rhodes' keeper Jordan Robinson had 16 saves in the contest and allowed all four goals.

The Captains stay on the road as they head to New Hampshire to take on head coach Carrie Moura's alma mater, Keene State, tomorrow at 5:00pm.
